Could we grow plants without sunlight?

YES. At the Stockbridge Technology Centre in North Yorkshire (pictured), scientists are using the principle that plants do not need all the colours in the spectrum to grow. The researchers have selected specific wavelengths of blue and red light suitable for plant growth. In distinctly psychedelic lighting conditions, the LED brightness and colour are tweaked to optimise the taste and size of produce.
